Heats/Finals
2 heats and a final (depending upon Category numbers)

Team Composition – as per the category definitions and race rules
All teams must have a minimum of 16 paddlers , 1 drummer and 1 sweep to a maximum of 20 paddlers, 4 reserves, 1 drummer, 1 sweep


Junior Mixed Crews

    Maximum of 50% of male paddlers (excludes drummer and sweep)
    All paddlers and drummer must be 12 – 17 years. Sweep can be over 18 years   

Junior Open Crews

    Any gender. All paddlers and drummer must be 12 – 17 years.
    Sweep can be over 18 years   

Junior  Women Crews

    All female paddlers (must have a  female drummer & sweep)
    All paddlers and drummer must be 12 – 17 years. Sweep can be over 18 years   

Premier Mixed Crews

    Maximum of 50% of male paddlers (excludes drummer and sweep)

Premier Open Crews

        Any gender

Premier Women’s Crews

    All female paddlers (must have a  female drummer & sweep)

Masters Mixed Crews

    Maximum  of 50% of male paddlers (excludes drummer and sweep)
    All paddlers must be over 40 years (as of 01st June) drummer  and sweep can be   younger.   

Masters Open Crews

    Any gender. All paddlers must be over 40 years (as of 01st June) drummer and sweep can be younger.   

Masters Women Crews

    All female paddlers. All paddlers must be over 40 years (as of 01st June) drummer and sweep can be younger.   

Grand Masters Mixed Crews

    Maximum  of 50% of male paddlers (excludes drummer and sweep)
    All paddlers must be over 50 years (as of 01st June) drummer  and sweep can be   younger.   

Every team must use DBNSW Accredited steerer.  Steerers must have their names recorded by the Head Marshall.
Level 2 sweeps must wear the orange safety vests (which can be collected/returned to marshalling.
Clubs must provide their own sweeps. (If for some reason a club can’t provide their own, they can borrow a level 2 sweep from another club).

It is compulsory for all Team Members to wear current Membership cards

Note: teams with 2 teams in the same category. Teams can have up to 4 paddlers interchange between the 2 teams (same 4 people) i.e. 2 mixed teams)

 

Time:

Races: 8:00am – 4:00pm (TBC)

Team Captains’ Briefing

7:30am – At the finish line

Location:

Hawkesbury River, Deerubben Reserve, Mooney Mooney (take Brooklyn exit off F3) It’s the locations where the Hawkesbury River Classic finishes.

Race Distances:

300-500 metres for all categories

(possible 2000 metre if time permits)

Boats:

1 or 2  sets of 6  fibreglass boats  (depending upon numbers) IDBF spec matching boats (will depend upon number of entries)

Paddles:

Only IDBF spec paddles (202a) will be accepted

Membership cards:

Membership photo ID cards are issued upon membership payment to DBNSW and will be required at each DBNSW event.

Premier Open, Women’s, Mixed, Masters Open, Womens, Mixed, Junior Mixed, Open,  Women, Grand Masters Mixed

AusDBF Race Rules and Regulations and NSW bye-laws (refer DBNSW website)

Safety:

(1)           This regatta is a DBNSW event and DBNSW will appoint a Regatta Safety Officer to advise the Chief Race Official on all matters relating to the safety of participants, officials, spectators and others present at the venue.  The name of the Regatta Safety Officer will be advised at the Team Captains' briefing at the commencement of racing.   Adherence to safety-related instructions from either the Regatta Safety Officer or the Chief Race Official is mandatory

(2)           Nothing in (1) above:

a.             removes the responsibility for Clubs to do all in their power to ensure the safety of participants, officials, spectators and others present at the venue - safety is everyone's responsibility; and 

b.             affects the right of Clubs and Sweeps to adopt a more risk averse approach to specific situations, nor does it affect the responsibilities of the sweep for the safety of his or her crew.

Qualifying for Finals

Points are allocated on placings in heat results and added together to form finals qualifications. If more than 6 teams qualify, the times of teams on equal points will be added to identify the 6 fastest qualifying teams.

Steerers:

Only DBNSW accredited sweeps. ‘Level 2’  steerers must wear orange vests. All sweeps must have their names recorded with the marshall for every race

Clean-up:

All teams are requested to clean up their area at the end of the day.

Security:

Teams are responsible for the security of their valuables. BE WARY.

First Aid:

St Johns First Aid  personal will be on duty
